So the Arcade is gearing up for another round that starts December 1st at midnight. judging by this shopping guild the December 2013 Arcade looks pretty amazing. A few of my favorites include the Pop Boots from Gizza, the Sloth ht from 8f8, the MishMish penguin avatars, and all the items from Shi to name a few. Earlier today I stopped by and picked up a few things and thought it would be fun to put a look together. Once this look was done the song “Royals” kept playing on repeat in my head. It could be the coat, or the crown, or the bad ass gloves but what ever it is I dig this look.
To start off with the Gacha fun I picked up these Frosting Coats and Tin Mitts from Rachel Breaker. The coats are amazing and look like over sized fur coats. At first I was a little worried I could not unisex these but it turns out they work pretty darn good with male avatars. The Tin Mitts have to be my favorite item from Rachel Breaker this round. They are fully mesh gloves with this cool armor like detail. The silver one is my favorite but I am going to try to collect them all because they are just that good. I think at this point is when “Royals” started playing in my head so I threw on a crown from Ladies who Lunch. In this set there is a grown called Queen Bee that would be perfect for the whole them of the song (“You can call me queen bee”) but it’s Rare and well… So I went with the just as pretty Dark Queen crown in black.

A few days ago I found my way back to Truth. I sort of stopped going to the mainstore because I never managed to leave the store without seventeen different demos and like five fatpacks, This trip I only walked away with four demos and two ginger packs. One of the hairs I got was is called Josie. It’s a loose bun with some fun braiding detail that I just love. I also picked up the ginger pack of the hair I am going to use in another blog. It too has some great braid detail. To any hair designers reading this braids + long hair + fade effect = Gabe trap.
As you can see I am still using the skin in this round of The Men’s Department. I cannot make myself take it off it is just so good. I paired the skin with a top also from the department from Etham. It’s perfect for winter and I love the safety pins. It gives it a nice detail. Layering in clothing is one of my biggest weaknesses. I was so happy when I saw it. I am thinking I will be going back and picking up a few more colors.

Today Avenue just started its Autumn/Winter 2013 show. I will admit I was less excited about the shows than I was the shopping. After streaming some of the shows online I popped into the sim and picked up a few things.
The shirt from a store called Blvck Anchor is one of those items I picked up. The design of the shirt itself is simple enough with a nice leather detail from. It’s just the chese front of the shirt that has this leather texture. I thought it was sort of a cool contact and knew I need to add it to my inventory.

One of my favorite things to do in Secondlife is try on skins. I always feel that with each different skin I am creating a new person. I often thing about who they are, what they would wear and create a little back story for them. Today I went to this rounds of the Men’s Department and sitting there was a skin. I picked it up and turned to a whole new person. He doesn’t have a name or back story yet but darn the skin looks good. Check out the face.
The skin is not the only item from this round used in this look. The hair, the shirt, tattoo, necklace, and the boots also come from the men’s event. The hair comes from a store called Atro Patena. The hair is a nice short style really perfect for any look. I paired it with a open shirt for Deco.

With each blog look, a new character is born. I make up back stories about the guy wearing that outfit, why is he wearing it, who is he, and what was he doing at the time the photo was taken. The look bellow was inspired by this Mohawk I picked up from Olive’s Hair Fair booth. For some reason something about it made me think of a show I watched as a kid. The Tribe. In the show, a virus kills off all the adults leaving the children of the world to take care of themselves. With the theme in mind I created a look. The Mohawk in this look is pretty bad ass. I am not even gonna front. It’s more of a liberty spike feel to it that almost reminds me of a dinosaur. The cool thing about the spikes is each one is moveable. Which is perfect give that the hair was designed for a female’s head and I could just easily mod it. The only thing that was a slight draw back was I wish the designer would have included a hair base almost like the one Discord Designs did for their locks to give it a feeling like the hair is being parted to create the spikes. However it doesn’t stop the mohawk(Click for side view) from being great.
In the show all of the characters have some kind of face paint. I knew I wanted to bring that in with this look. Nuuna is one of my favorite places to shop for such thing. The store has a huge selection of unique make-ups and face pants. Given that the show is set in the future (or what the 90′s thought was the future) I picked up this great coat from a store I found on the market place. Throw on a mask and we have a perfect post-apocalyptic look.

Yesterday I was trying to do a blog post when my secondlife was all “Hey you need to upgrade”. At first I was super annoyed. I managed to get my outfit perfect, the shadows where I wanted, and the angle of my photo perfect. I knew that Linden Labs were making improvements on the viewer, some rezzing faster thing, and this upgrade made it take into effect. Still I went along with the upgrade, went to plurk to bitch and that was when I found out the one thing I was waiting for. The one reason why I bought the swim wear from FATEwear (besides it looking good), the one reason I even bothered to play around with the beta grid; materials.
Back when I got the FATEwear swim suit above one of the factors to that was the wet and sheen options. I was a little upset that I had to wait for the material viewer. To my knowledge, materials is a way for designers to make their clothing look shiny. I guess it’s almost the same as if you were to add a shine to a prim or at least that’s my understanding of it. You can see by this photo the difference between the two. In this example the one on the left is just the Ian bathing suit and the one of the right is the wet one. Anywho, that’s all, I wanted to share with you the sexiness which is Materials and give you yet another reason to go get FATEwear’s swimwear

Normally I try hard to stay away from events. I find that a good chunk of the time the lag is so bad that it takes you a full minute to walk one inch. Added to the fact that a lot of these events are geared to women that sometimes I feel as a male avatar it would be a waste of my time just to go and grab one or two items. Despite all this, either out of boredom or peer pressure from plunk, I jumped over to Summerfest and boy, was I glad I did.
I somehow managed to get into Summerfest on my second try which is not all that common for a Secondlife event. When I landed, I was greeted with the sound of the beach boys, the sound of the ocean, and some really fun finds.

Today I got the urge to change my avatar’s looks so I went bouncing around skin stores. Now, let me tell you, I am a wee bit picky when it comes to skins. I like the mouth on my Gabe nice and plump, the skin tone has to be some what palish (at least for this look I had in mind), and the brows cannot be too thin. With these goals in mind I was going to store after store. At one, the lips would be perfect but for some reason the skin only came in tan. At other’s the brows were too thin and made me think of a drag queen. I was starting to get worried I would never find something I liked until I popped into Nivaro. Now this store had a few skins I loved, most of which I grabbed demos with. In my excitement I some how managed to buy a skin. At first I was all “Oh bloody hell” until I tried it on. I was in love. The hair base was pure white, the brows were nice and light. I threw on a grey colored hair and got the look bellow.
While I was in my “OMG I need a new skin mode” I also did some normal shopping. See the hoodie? It’s from FATEwear. I love it. But you see, I have this problem. Every time I go into FATEwear I end up getting AT LEAST one fatpack. This trip I walked away with the fatpack of the hoodie (Which was L$1200) and a tank top I am going to use in a later blog. I told myself it was worth it. I mean, look how good I look!

So yesterday, I logged into secondlife and created the look. I was going to blog it but I fell asleep. I had a rather long day. So, I am blogging it today YAY.
I really don’t feel like writing all fluffy today so here is the facts. The shirt and hair, those come from the Men’s Department. They are cool. Yay cool men’s stuff.

I am not very creative today when it comes to blog titles but I wanted to show of these skates from this round of the Arcade. The stakes come from The Secret Store, I have been wearing them since they time I picked up the blogger preview and wearing an old Ice Skate AO so it looks like I am skating. They are pretty fun. So if you are into retro looking skates, pick them up.
Speaking of pretty cool, have you seen this sweater from FATEwear? It’s one of the two new releases from the brand. Above is the Harrison sweater. The Ford swear pretty much has the same design except it is solid while Harrison is striped.
While we are on the topic of new and FATEwear, they also released a fat pack hud. For the Harrison and Ford sweaters it pretty much looks like the image bellow. Except like stated above, Ford has solid options
The hud for the Sweaters is pretty easy to use. The all color option sets at the parts (1-3) to the preset color. The part 1, 2 and 3 tabs only control that one part of the sweater.
Part 01 being the main body of the sweat, part 02 being the sleeve, and part 03 being the buttons along the side. If I could do math I would tell you haw many different combinations you can make with the fat pack hud. However, I am pretty sucky at math so.. Let’s just say it’s a lot mmkay?
